Ohio House Approves Legislation to Renew Ohio’s Sales Tax Holiday

Anne Gonzales News, Office Press Releases

Today we approved Senate Bill 9, which creates another year’s Sales Tax Holiday for the back-to-school shopping season. Once again the savings will apply to items of clothing priced at $75 or less; commonly used school supplies such as crayons, book bags, pencils, etc. priced at $20 or less; and school instructional materials like textbooks and workbooks priced at $20 or less. The price limit is applied per item, so consumers can buy as many tax-exempt items under the price limit as they wish, either online or in stores.

The sales tax holiday will occur August 4-6, 2017. Set a reminder on your calendar now to take part in the savings.

The bill will now go to Governor John Kasich to be signed into law.
